I Always Love You

going to share something personal with y’all …. a few weeks before my mom changed churches to New Jerusalem we were on the back porch (she loved to sit out there and talk about, well, everything, and we were laughing and reminiscing and just enjoying each other when she looked at me very seriously and told me “Buddy, you know I have ALWAYS loved you …. I didn’t always like you, but, I always loved you” … at the time i didn’t know what to think and took it kinda as a “back handed compliment” but, then as the years went on and we got to raisin’ a kid of our own, i GOT it … no matter WHAT, i would always LOVE him, i might not LiKE what he was doing and, at that particular time, it may make him not my “favorite dinner party guest” but, he’d never NOT be invited and would always be WELCOME at our table and LOVED …. in other words, i may not always like him, but, i always love him … wow … mom is smart 😊 …. now i’m even a little older and thinkin’ ‘bout how my Savior, and more importantly, Lord, lived his life with His children … He always LOVES us … i’m sure He doesn’t always like us and what we’re doing, but, He always Loves us (it’s in the Bible, you can look it up!) … and, he’s even challenged us to do the same, so, i’m gonna take mom’s saying to the next level now and challenge myself to do just that … no, i don’t have to like everyone and everyone’s actions, but, i can still love that person, and, maybe even pray harder for the ones i don’t necessarily like, both for me and the reasons i don’t like them as well as for them and the things they’re doing that maybe aren’t so likeable to begin with … just a thought from a guy that was lucky enough to have a super awesome mom …
