Turning Into the Slide

teaching Sunday School to Middle Schoolers, i found out, is a LOT like teaching server project management to new hires and recent college grads (in some ways) …. namely, there’s a LOT of attitudes and you really don’t know what questions you’d be asked J … but, in doing so, you ALWAYS had to be prepared … turns out, what it really prepared me for (I THOUGHT) was parenthood …. boy, was i wrong … but, experience is what you get right after you need it, and, then again, as a grandparent, it comes back around and comes in really handy !!! now, why this trip down memory lane, may you ask ??? well, this morning while feeding lil’bit, i was reminded of something i used to teach right off the bat to my server classes …. the difference between knowledge and wisdom … knowledge is knowing that tomatoes are technically fruits but wisdom is knowing that you’d never put them into fruit salad !!! now lil’bit is full on toddler tantrums when he doesn’t get his way, and, this morning, HE wanted to feed himself …. OATMEAL …. now, my wisdom is that this is a disaster but my knowledge is that he wont quit till he gets what he wants …. a quick diaper change (for redirect) and a spoonful of oatmeal on the tray later, i’m feeding the happiest toddler in the world oatmeal while keeping the mess contained … putting this to our Christian witness …. when we first start, Jesus Good, Devil Bad, Heaven programmed in GPS is pretty much where we start, but, as we grow in faith and dive into the word we can build up both in knowledge AND wisdom to handle tougher and tougher situations …. we all do it at OUR pace because, let’s face it, He has a PERSONAL relationship with EACH of US, which is why I love MY SAVIOR so very much J .. just a thought from a guy that is weary of any fruit salad from someone that’s not taken a server class from me 😀 ….

Bible Verses

John 15:1-17

Questions:

Do you have any stories where you “thought you had it” only to find out later that … boy you didn’t ??? How about teaching stories where you’re teaching folks that thought they did ??? How about teachers that made a difference ???
