A dear friend from church recommended a book she’d fallen in love with at our church library. (For you young’uns, that’s a room where lots of books are stored. Books are these things with lots of words printed on paper that are stuck together, kinda like a tablet you have to turn the pages on yourself.)

The book is called The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. It’s linked below if you don’t live close enough to our church to stop in and grab a copy. (I think we have four or five if I’m not mistaken.)
Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. An awesome read. I won’t spoil it — definitely worth the time. And it really makes you think, which is what a good book should do.

The premise (again, no spoilers) is about making a difference in five people’s lives before you get to Heaven. With the hamster runnin’ at top velocity in my thinkin’ machine, the Spirit put two passages on my heart — today’s readings.

What if we looked at those five people a little closer to home? Not curing cancer or creatin’ world peace on a Tuesday (although if you’ve got ideas, we’re all for it). Just tryin’ to make a difference — a smile, a helpful gesture — for five people we actually interact with each day. Huh.

Just a thought from a guy that will do his best to do just that today, tomorrow, and every day to come.
