SMH … I Need to Stop and Take a Minute … ASAP, imho

Three decades in IT has taught me one thing fo’ sho: there are enough acronyms to shake a stick at. One company (who will not be named) supposedly sent a memo saying that because of so many TLAs floating around, they were stopping the creation of new ones. The next memo defined TLA as “Three Letter Acronym.”

Don’t get me wrong. They have their place. Who wants to say three words over and over when three letters will do? It’s quicker. Same with cooking. Who wants to wait 45 minutes on that pot pie when 5 minutes will give you the same “meh” meal?

Java. Unless you’re payin’ six bucks for an Arabica bean from someone makin’ fancy foam thingies in it, or you really need a 60-second joe on the go, the best part of wakin’ up is somethin’ in your cup.

Heck, in tech we’ve even gotten into the game. Who needs keyboards when we’ve got these new-fangled phones? Why type when you can take a picture and off you go, readin’ the latest meanderings of a wayward nitwit about daily observations.

But just like that pot pie is “meh,” the coffee is ok, the three-minute observation is, well, observed. You want or need more. The oven can make a full pot roast. An espresso machine can make a café Americano. And that observation has links to full Bible passages that take a lot longer than three minutes.

Speaking of the Bible (see what I did there)…

Did you know there are books in the Bible that do the same thing? The Chronicles passage in today’s reading is an overview of David’s story, but to really understand King David, Samuel is where you’d really want to dive in.

Christ did incredible things during His time on earth. He also modeled how we should walk. In Mark’s passage, between two of those marvelous things, while folks were definitely in need of Him, He intentionally took time away. Time to be with His Father in prayer so that He was whole and healthy.

Just a thought from a guy that will leave you with one more acronym… B-I-B-L-E. Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.
