Go Granny Go Granny … And All The Rest Of Us Too !!!

When I was a young’en (yup, a gajillion years ago!) there were “oldies” on even then. Wow, that’d mean they were ancient. Doo-wop and beach music from the ’50s and ’60s. I loved it. One of my favorite groups (even to this day!) is Jan and Dean.

One of their hits, “The Little Old Lady from Pasadena,” had a granny who couldn’t keep her foot off the accelerator. Cute song, and I dare ya not to toe-tap while listenin’ to it.

What reminded me of it was yesterday on our way to church. We have a 45-minute ride. We were keepin’ Lil’Bit entertained by playin’ DJ with our MP3s (somethin’ they definitely didn’t have back in Jan and Dean’s day) and by the time we got to church Lil’Bit was singin’ and laughin’ and havin’ such a joyful time.

Special. That’s the only word to describe it.

At church Norton pulled out all the stops, and I have to apologize to the folks in front of me ’cause they had not one but two hymns that made me sing a bit louder than I’d normally sing just ’cause the Spirit was in my soul.

Music does that. Whether it’s a little old lady drivin’ too fast or us askin’ if the Lord’s gonna remember us way beyond the blue. God gave us the ability to create and enjoy this wonderful artform.

David, a king, warrior, shepherd, giant killer, poet, and yup, musician, did a heap o’ stuff in his lifetime. There’s lots of things written about him in the Bible, and he actually wrote several of the Psalms. Many to be sung, as he was a musician himself and knew the power of that artform.

Just a thought from a guy that loves and appreciates most forms of music and isn’t afraid to sing it out loud to anyone who’ll listen!!!!
