Gonna start off with a bit of a confession. When we started this shindig, we’d planned on one or two devotionals a week, and yours truly was sweatin’ it.
On top of a 60–70 hour job, chasin’ after a toddler, preppin’ Sunday School, and everything else goin’ on, addin’ more Bible study and writin’ what amounted to a 3-to-5 minute paper twice a week was daunting. Til He stepped in.
God’s math is, well, just so Him.
God doesn’t do anything by halves. As soon as I committed — that’s important, He wanted me to take the first step — all of a sudden, it happened.

Walkin’ with Lil’Bit we’d see a duck family waddlin’, and He’d whisper that still soft voice on my heart about mothers carin’ for their young. Later that day the pop would almost write itself.

Later in the week I’d be doin’ my grocery review. Pro tip: make the list BEFORE you look for the sale items, or you end up with way too much popcorn in the pantry. Just sayin’. I see a powdered energy drink I’d never buy, on sale, and it sure reminds me of a sweet old lady that called me that name all her life. Again, the AskAPop writes itself.

Bein’ on the prayer chain doesn’t lead to AskAPops, but it does somethin’ very similar. Each time one of those requests comes in, we stop, breathe, and pray. How many times are we elbows deep in our own fill-in-the-blank when one lands, and it’s Him remindin’ us that our thorn is just that. The prayer gets carried. And the one who stopped long enough to carry it walks away a little more healed.

Whether it was by the tomb that first Easter Sunday, or on the road to Emmaus, He reminded us He’d be with us. Paul reminded the Corinthians that what the eye hasn’t seen, the Spirit still shows. As long as He is in the heart, we will find Him there.
Just a thought from a guy that firmly knows seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing. And because of it, He’s allowin’ us to write one of these most every day. Thanks be to God.
