Oh boy … I knew the time was comin’. I’d been puttin’ it off for over a year, but as most folks my age get (hey — no comments from the peanut gallery), we just hate admittin’ it.
My beloved phone has developed a very unhealthy relationship with its charging apparatus. I’d seen the warning signs. They showed up seven years ago with my “ex” — an S7 that walked me through my son’s middle and high school years. Now the phone that literally went where He had been is startin’ to fail the same way.

I work with teenagers. Was that dramatic enough? 🙂
All kidding aside … phones are part of us. They’ve become an extension of who we are. Thousands of pictures — and the videos for this ministry — get taken on one. But it’s still just a thing. The memories, the life lived behind the pictures … those haven’t changed.

There’s a couple hundred precious shots from the ’70s and ’80s that started on film, got scanned, and now share pride of place next to the digital pile we make every day with these newfangled gadgets. I look at both and I see one thing. Love.
Kinda reminds me of the reading today (funny how that works, huh). Wherever we are, He is there. New pocket. Same Presence.
I’ve done my homework on the one that’s comin’ in. I’ve got a plan to move everything over and make it as seamless as possible. And I’m also pretty sure something will still go sideways. That’ll be OK too. He’s got this.
Just a guy who may never have 100% control over how long his digital devices last … but knows a Guy who somehow makes that a-OK, no matter where he is.
