I may be aging myself here a bit (no comments from the peanut gallery!) but when I first started in the professional world, passwords typically weren’t required to log into computers. Heck, most folks didn’t HAVE computers unless they had a specific NEED for one.
When passwords became a thing — by then I was in the “MIS” department; we were also in charge of plungers — you could walk around to probably a quarter of the keyboards and find sticky notes with the passwords somewhere around them. If they didn’t have them there, well, the folks would forget them. I ended up teaching a class a year later on a few things, one of which was password management, and why sticky notes weren’t appropriate.
That was decades ago. Now, heck, everyone knows you can’t even share a password with someone you’d share blood with. It’s sacred. These things are secure. They protect important stuff. Like our bank accounts. Our finances. Our pictures. Our … water bill???? Our … grocery list????
Ok. If anyone is willing to pay my water bill, is it REALLY necessary to keep them out of my account? Just sayin’????
Of course I’m kidding. I do know why each company keeps their own password management, and I do get it. It’s a trust, a bond between them and us. Hmmm. Sort of like another I’ve read about.
Except the one I’m thinking of was WAY better and didn’t require a password. He already knows everything about us and doesn’t require anything on our part except a “yes.”
God promised Abram — later Abraham — that he’d be the father of many nations. A promise. No password needed.
Just a thought from a guy who’s thinking that THIS is a reward program we can ALL get behind.
