Storing Our Stuff … He’s Got Our Backs!

Ya know, one of the things about bein’ a dad is always playin’ a game in the back of your mind that your kids never get to play (you hope). The grown-up version of the “what-if” game.

The kids’ version starts around 5th grade and it’s all sorts of… well, let’s go with “fun,” because I do love kids. The grown-up version is anything but. It’s “make sure the car seat’s buckled because what if…” and “make sure the door’s locked because what if…” You could go crazy if those thoughts took more of your mind than you gave them. On the other hand, you’d be crazy not to give them at least a little of your mind to keep your kids safe.

So we write things down. We take notes. We’re responsible adults. We store things — on paper, on tablets, on phones — and we even make backups of them.

Someone ELSE is lookin’ in, too. And He doesn’t need a scrap of paper, three digital copies, or the cloud… er, well, technically… hang on. You get my drift.

God knows our hearts. He knew us when we were in the womb. He loves us so much He sent His only Son to save all of us.

I’m not for a minute saying contingency planning isn’t important, or that backups of backups aren’t important. Heck — look at what we have today because of the careful preparation those priests did thousands of years ago. They hid scrolls in caves so a kid could stumble across them millennia later and, literally, unlock the past.

We store what we can. He’s got what we can’t.

Just a thought from a very grateful dad who makes backups of his backups of the cloud data… just because :).
