“way back in my day” (am i that old!) … I spent a whole semester in college where i’d rush home in time to make it to the couch with 2 hot dogs and chips and watch the last 15 mins or so of my buddy Chuck Woolery with some folks tryin to match up on a show called Love Connection (the hinge of the 80’s!) before Star Trek came on at 4 (man, did i just admit to being THAT much of a geek!) …
Anyhoo, Chuck was the king of cool, and during the show he’d help these dudes try and woo the ladies and when it came to commercial breaks, he’d turn to the camera and say “we’ll be back in two and two” while turning his hand in a funny way …
….. Well, Chucky boy … I never wanted to go on your show, but, thanks to a different Chuck (my father in law,) … I DID make a love connection, and, this coming weekend it’ll be two and two for us !!!
Over the past two decades (and a couple leftovers,) we’ve been through the highest of highs (additions to the family) and lowest of lows (family members going home to the church of New Jerusalem) and just about everything in between … Through sickness and health, richer (before kids) and poorer (after kids) … Almost always with a smile …
I’ve caught myself looking at my beloved over the years, literally, just as recently as yesterday, thinking of just how thankful i am that she still chooses me … As i choose her …
With both of us, Christian Education is very important … When we’re teaching kids … Especially about things such as adoption, it’s important to make sure to emphasize how “God’s Will” works … For, if you say “it’s God’s Will” that you’re together, that means that whatever happened before must have also been … And that can really confuse them …
I do not think for a second that God’s Will was for the broken road to happen to have Toni be a widow in her mid 20’s, but, i DO think that God was able to USE a willing servant to allow His Will to comfort her … Just as Boaz was there for Ruth and Leah was there for all of us ….
(talk about a Love connection … Boaz came from Leah’s line !!!!!) now, that’s 2+2 !!!!!
