chef-boy-r-cecil here again with another recipe 😊 … makin’ some rice for lil’bit and i today for lunch i decided to make a meal out of it and the spirit reminded me that it’s a whole lot like the difference between reading the bible and READING our SCRIPTURE … (i’ll bet you’re thinkin’ “ok, he’s gone off the deep end this time!”) … well, probably, but, stick with me … ya see, for years i’d pull out my bible, read along, learn the stories, be able to answer all (most) the questions and be pretty proud of myself, but, let’s face it … i was a pretty BLAND Christian and i’m pretty sure that the God wasn’t too “Well Pleased” with me … but, after i started teachin’ the kids (boy, they can ask some DOOZY of questions, don’t ya know!) i started learnin in earnest … first and foremost, there’s these classes called the Disciple classes (linked below, instead of Bible Verses today) and, the more i got into the Word, the more i WANTED to … next thing i knew, i was searching for context and praying BEFORE and AFTER study, and, the SCRIPTURE became less and less of a series of books for me as it became more and more of a set of tools used in my life … now …. back to the recipe … lil’bit and i could have simple white rice or even kick it up to the fancy Rice a Roni, but, even that’s not filling enough for us, so, we add in context (tomatoes) and meat (chicken) … just like when i’m in the Word now i’m using the tools around me (new ones like Grok and Bible Gateway, older ones like the Reference Bibles, and even my Disciple notes, and DEFINITELY my Pastor!) along with prayer before, during, and after to ensure that God’s Word is filling my soul just as the meals we prepare fill our bellies … no, i don’t speed through the chapters nearly as fast, but, in turn, the time i spend is much more valued and valuable … now, if you’ll excuse me, lil’bit and i have some chowing down to do 😊 …
