happy birthday to me … well … anyone, really … didja ever stop to think about these things ??? we’re celebratin’ a day that all we did was somethin’ we don’t remember and didn’t do a lot, but, our mom’s sure did !!! … and, each year, everyone heap’s praise and presents on us, when, again, ain’t it everyone else who should really be the ones that we should be thanking ??? i was REALLY lucky growing up in a real village of folks (yeah yeah yeah, queue the ”village people” jokes!) with my mom and dad leadin the way, but, at the center of it was Christ and Love … i remember my 18^th birthday present from my dad was a set of tools and a craftsman toolbox … he said it’s what i’d need when i left home (it was symbolic, as he’d already given me all the “tools” i’d need to start my journey as i’d be moving out in a few weeks) … anyhoo, what i’m getting at is, as we get older, the “birthdays” and “birthday gifts” change a bit … instead of looking for things that we’ll need to fill our “toolbox” it’s more what we’ll need for memories … take for example this year … i’m “asking” for us to start getting annual passes again to a theme park … we’d stopped back when our “lil’bit” had stopped being so “lil” and had moved passed them and, let’s face it, we’re way past that point in our lives, but, guess what … there’s a NEW “lil’bit” in the village and lots of NEW memories that can be had, so, instead of chasing wizards and superheros like we did for a decade, it’s back to fishies and sesame street … ahhhh sunny days chasin’ the … well, you get my drift … now, here’s hopin’ i get my birthday wishes and so do you !!!! happy birthday to you, whatever day it falls on !!!!
