ok ok ok … who’s reading this that’s never been mad while driving a motor vehicle in traffic … or, how’s about in line at a grocery store or a bank or a government agency or a, well, you get the picture … now, if any of you have said “not me” then, not only is this not for you, i’d like to meet you so you can start teaching me yoga and breathing exercises 😛 … kidding, but, let’s face it, there’s things in life that “get our goat” and can really fan the flames of anger for, well, really no good reason, but, they do … something that i’d picked up awhile ago that works for me and i’d shared with my classes i’d like to pass along … when i start to feel the burn, i start to hum, whistle, or even sing one of my “go to” hymns … I’m hard pressed to stay mad when my head is full of “In the Garden,” and i really can’t remember why i should be mad at that guy in front of me when I’m belting out “Leaning on Everlasting Arms” in my car, and, you know a good side effect, instead of anger and rage, all of a sudden, there’s now a smile on the driver’s face … funny how that works, huh ???? … David wrote most of the Psalms to be sung, and God loves it when we belt out a joyful noise in His general direction … i’m just sayin’ … now, if you’ll excuse me, i’m gonna “Go Tell It On the Mountain” (tell me you’re not singing it in your head now, i dare ya 😉) ….
