toni and i are going to see the season premiere of season five of The Chosen … now, i’ve heard a lot of kerfuffle over just how much this follows the Bible (or not) etc etc, and, honestly, there’s been other works that i’ve enjoyed in the past, a couple of books that were made into movies that really moved me, The Shack and Heaven is for Real most notably, but, there’s TONS of movies, shows, and books out there that have some focus on the bible (in my opinion, none do it nearly as well as what Dallas and team have done) but, I look at ALL of them as “on ramps” …. on ramps to the highway that IS God’s Word … at the end of an episode of one of these wonderfully produced episodes i am compelled to go and read from the SOURCE material …. being a “fanboy” here for a second, if you actually use the Chosen App (google play / apple) , they have a “breakout” section after each episode has aired where they sit with a priest, rabbi, and pastor (no joke!) along with Dallas to discuss each episode to go into the biblical questions of the episode in question and how they worked through it … it makes the viewer WANT to pick up their Bible and read more for themselves, which, isn’t that what Jesus instructed us all to do when he gave His greatest commandment ???
