Breaking Bread

(originally posted on 1/26, now updated with bible verses and questions !!!)

today while SHARING an omelet and biscuit with lil’bit it got me thinking … how many meals shared together already in just the first year of his life ?? now, i know i’ve fed him loads of times and we’ve eaten as a family more times than can be counted, but, actually taken something, broken it, and shared it between the two of us … it means so much more … it got me thinking about how many times Pappeye told me about the men’s fellowship breakfasts at Northside Nazarene …. he said that it was important to have good food so the guys that came only for the food would come back each month because they may hear something or see something on that would make them want to see or hear more about why guys like him were doing it …. now i get it … yes, it’s about sharing our “stuff,” our resources, our food, and even our spaces, but, that by itself is something that anyone can do …. what His servants are asked to do is share our HEARTS and LOVE while we’re doing it … instead of simply just cutting an omelet in half and sharing it, playing “airplane” and making sure lil’bit enjoyed it while mine got cold was 99% of the reason for sharing that omelet this morning, the same was as, i’m sure, Pappeye stopping by Burger Chef to pick up something to eat after the saturday breakfast more times than not because he made sure everyone else’s belly (and soul) was full was no big deal to him because he looked at that as a true mission (pun intended!) accomplished that week !!! (wow, Burger Chef, am a really dating myself that much!) …. anyhoo … i guess i’ll end it by asking that, if you haven’t tried it lately, truly BREAK BREAD with someone … share a meal …. It will fill more than your belly …. have an AWESOME day !!!

Bible Verses

Acts 2:46 / Psalm 126 / Mark 14:22-26

Questions …

How does food or sharing food bring back memories for you in general ??? Does it bring back faith memories ???

There are “big” meals during the year that we can share with friends and family, but, usually not the same ones … can you think of other times where it may be good to share in between ???

Do you (or would you consider) sharing with folks like we talk about in this askapop??? If so, with who ???
