Talk About the Bible

let’s talk ’bout the BIBLE for a minute … it means so many different things to different people (heck, it means different things to ME!) … that’s kinda what i’m here to talk about … of course it’s Holy Scripture and the word of God, but, would you believe me if i told you that i had taught the kids that it’s also a map, and a cell phone, and an encyclopedia (ok, that’s one a lot of people know … you know “Basic Information Before Leaving Earth :)) … one thing that i think a lot of people end up getting hung up on is it being the one thing that i NEVER look it as … a history book … there’s a lot of OTHER books out there that do that, but, the stories in the Bible are there for a reason, and that reason is for God to talk to us in prayer while we’re reading it … you know every time i read a passage i get something different from it … not because the words have changed, but, because i’m in a different place and God has a different message for me to receive … the first time i read Exodus i was a teenager and it taught me about who God was and the Ten Commandments and how powerful He was … i read it again as an adult and this time around i learned how Moses was a leader, a leader that needed the help of his God and of his brother, but a leader that was willing to do what was necessary for his people … a few years later i read it again as a father of an adopted son, i’ll bet you can guess how the lessons changed for me there !!!! … but, what i’m saying is, God kept sending me BACK to that book when i needed it … i know this message is getting long, but, it was on my heart to share today for some reason (maybe i should pick up the bible and find out why 🙂 ) … but, what i’m trying to say is that the Bible can be (and IS) a two way communication between you and God IF you allow it to be … i hope your day is as AWESOME as YOU are … that’s ’bout it …
